In a study entitled, “Innovative SMEs 2025”, Prognos and the Centre for Economic Research (ZEW) examine what successful models for competitive small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) could look like. The authors formulate possible solutions for two different groups of SMEs.
Firstly: Companies who already now recognise early trends and put potential new developments to use.
Secondly: Businesses that lean towards client-driven ad-hoc innovation. Often, they are lacking the tools and strategies to comprehend market and technology trends.
Therefore, the strengthening of strategy competence is at the focus of the actions recommended by the study’s authors. The study was carried out on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
