Germany's global value-adding network
Prognos analysed the value-added interdependencies of the German economy in the years 2000, 2008, and 2014. The main target country for German value added was producers in Germany, followed by the USA, China, France, and the UK.
Classic trade statistics based on wholesale trade figures alone are insufficient when analysing the importance of a country or region as a trading partner for the German economy. Prognos therefore examined in which countries value added from the German economy goes into production and also the origin countries of the value added going into production in Germany.
