Wholesale and retail prices for all energy sources

We systematically cover all relevant energy sources (electricity, natural gas, heating oil, biogas, hydrogen and climate-neutral gases and liquids, district heating) and price dimensions. The forecasts cover both wholesale prices and end-user prices for various customers and applications. The forecasts extend from today to 2050 and beyond.

Focus: Electricity price forecasts for end customers, storage facilities and power stations

Our electricity price forecasts are tailored to different applications and user groups:

• Power station dispatch planning: high-resolution (hourly or quarter-hourly) electricity prices for dispatch planning, as well as capture rates, market values and market value factors for asset valuation
• Electricity consumers: end-user prices for various applications (e.g. heat pumps in district heating, household customer prices, procurement for electric vehicles, industrial plants, commercial and retail services, etc.)

Electricity prices are calculated by user and consumption scenario based on the individual components:

• Wholesale prices: The basis for forecasting wholesale prices (procurement, producer prices) is our fundamental European electricity market model, which we use to model long-term price developments in detail based on key price drivers such as fuel and CO₂ prices, the expansion of renewable energies, electricity demand, flexibilities and market design.
• Grid charges: by voltage levels, consumption volumes and profiles
• Taxes, levies and charges: KWKG, offshore grid levy, levy under Section 19(2) of the StromNEV, future levies (e.g. for power plant capacities and the use of hydrogen and climate-friendly fuels)
