Prognos contributes its energy efficiency expertise to EU initiative

The European Commission is focusing on increasing investment in energy efficiency in order to achieve the EU’s climate targets. Within the framework of the Energy Efficiency Financing Coalition (EEEFC), Prognos has been selected as a member of the Austrian National Hub. There, we are involved in the working group for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and contribute our expertise on energy efficiency and its financing.

The EEEFC brings together stakeholders from across Europe in the financial sector, economy, academia and civil society. The aim is to facilitate investment in energy efficiency and mobilise additional private funding for the energy transition. At the heart of the initiative are national stakeholder networks, which jointly develop financing solutions and raise the profile of successful approaches across Europe.

A platform for financing Austria’s energy transition

The Austrian National Hub is coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management (BMLUK) and the Federal Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism (BMWET). It aims to identify existing barriers to financing and help develop new energy efficiency solutions for Austria. At the same time, it strengthens the exchange between practitioners, researchers and the financial sector.

Prognos is one of 26 organisations selected to participate in the Austrian Hub following a public call for expressions of interest. Alongside financial institutions, these include companies, research institutions, associations and civil society organisations.

Our work focuses on the question of how investments in energy efficiency – particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises – can be better financed and implemented. Our participation in the EEEFC underlines Prognos’s role as a sought-after partner for shaping energy efficiency and financing strategies at national and European level.
