„Someone who takes this initiative is already demonstrating important skills for later work.“ Dr Jan Trenczek It doesn't always have to be the right job advert. An unsolicited application or registration in the career network can also lead to the next job. Just like Juliane Hasseberg, Hannah Staab and Dr Jan Trenczek. Here they explain how they came to Prognos. Hannah and Jan applied independently of each other on their own initiative. Both initially received a rejection as there were no suitable positions available. Prognos recruiter Agnieszka Petkowska then added them to the career network so that she could stay in touch if there were any suitable vacancies. Hannah reports: "I sent an unsolicited application in August 2020 and had my first interview straight away. It went well, but because of the coronavirus pandemic, it didn't fit at the time. That's how I got into the career network." Members of the career network are contacted by e-mail if a job vacancy matches their profile. Prognos searches the network for suitable candidates in parallel with job advertisements. Hannah and Jan received suitable job offers a short time later. After further interviews, they started their new jobs at Prognos. At the end of 2019, Jan was looking for a suitable career start during his doctoral studies and sent an unsolicited application to Prognos. He says: "The exciting thing about an unsolicited application is that you really get to know the company. Someone who takes this initiative is already demonstrating important skills for their future work." Jan's application made an impression. After an initial rejection, the recruiting team contacted him again three weeks later. A new department was being set up internally and his qualifications matched the new topics perfectly. After two interviews, everything quickly fell into place. Today, Jan is Head of Corporate Services at Prognos and previously helped set up the Sustainability Centre. Juliane, on the other hand, came across Prognos during her literature research for her Master's thesis. She registered in the career network - a low-threshold and uncomplicated way for her to enter her own contacts and upload her CV. Her qualifications matched a vacancy and she has been working as a junior consultant in the management consultancy team since May 2024. On her first business trip to Berlin, she met some of the study authors she knew from her Master's thesis: "It was a bit of a fangirl moment," she smiles. Hannah Staab and Juliane Hasseberg both work at Prognos' Munich office. (Image: Prognos AG) Juliane is happy to share her experience: "Sometimes other career starters ask how I got my job. Then I tell them that it wasn't the traditional route via a job advert." Agnieszka, who is in charge of the network, is happy about every new registration. Some members register themselves, others come via the application process and receive an invitation to register in order to stay in touch. She notes: "Some candidates may not even know which position they are best suited to. We then take away their uncertainty, because we know exactly what qualifications we are looking for. " Another advantage of the network is the regular careers newsletter, which provides information about open positions and offers insights into the work and culture at Prognos. This allows potential candidates to get to know Prognos better even before they join. We would like to thank Hannah, Jan and Juliane for the interview! We look forward to your next initiative - whether by job advertisement, unsolicited application or registration in the career network.
