  • Global Trends & Regional Dynamics

Historical data generally dates back to 1970, whilst the forecast period extends to 2060 where required.

Key data sources include national accounts, UN population projections and a wide range of official indices and sources.

Who is PEO® aimed at?

  • Companies are provided with a tool for strategic planning.
  • Government departments find analyses and information to support policy-making.
  • Trade associations receive well-founded guidance on sector developments and location-related issues.
  • The media receive prepared and ready-to-use charts and statistics on economic issues.
  • Students, researchers and lecturers find macroeconomic time series, data and facts for further use.

Methodology

The VIEW® world economic model is Prognos’ global forecasting and simulation model and forms the basis for our forecasts.

It enables a detailed and consistent representation of future developments in the global economy. Interactions and feedback loops between individual countries are explicitly captured and modelled within the model. The analytical power of VIEW® therefore goes far beyond that of isolated country models with exogenously specified global economic conditions.

FAQ on PEO®

Is PEO® new?

No, Prognos Economic Outlook® has been around for over 60 years – just in different forms and under different names. In the past, there were comprehensive reports and volumes of tables; later, CD-ROMs and USB sticks; then a database. The core, however, has always remained the same: in-depth data analyses, time series and forecasts covering 600 demographic and macroeconomic variables for most countries worldwide.

What’s new with the relaunch (August 2026) is the way the data is presented: together with our partner 23grad, we are now making PEO® accessible to everyone in a user-friendly, interactive format that’s easy to use and adapt.

How often are updates released?

The relaunch, featuring a new look, took place in August 2026. In future, updates will be issued twice a year – in April and October. As new official data and statistics, which form the basis for PEO®, become available, we update our models and assessments and make them available online straight away.

Where can I buy PEO® or take out a subscription?

A great deal of work has gone into developing this. Regular updates, model maintenance and further development take time and money. Nevertheless, the basic features of the PEO® can be used free of charge. Everything available at app.23degrees.com may be used. But please do so fairly and correctly, citing your sources (see next question).

How do I cite PEO® correctly?

  • Prognos (Year): Prognos Economic Outlook, Spring or Autumn, www.prognos.com
  • © Prognos Economic Outlook (Year, Spring/Autumn)

What are the options for access and use?

Access to PEO® is via app.23degrees.io

The application offers a wide range of options for exploring the data. All data is visualised in charts, presented interactively and is easily accessible. The charts can be customised individually as required: you can add or deselect data, modify time periods, adjust pre-designed visualisations and choose your own layout. It is also possible to download data directly in common file formats or to embed interactive charts on your own websites.
