Just Transition Platform Meeting

Datum

The fourth edition of the „Just Transition Platform Meeting “ will take place online on 15 – 17 November 2021. The Just Transition Fund (JTF) will support the EU regions most affected by the transition to a climate-neutral economy, with the aim of diversifying and modernising their economy. This should be in line with the endogenous potential and capabilities of territories. To receive support from the JTF, each region will prepare a Territorial Just Transition Plan (TJTP) to outline the key priorities and strategic actions. A strategic approach to innovation-driven diversification should play a key role in this process. In the session, first experiences and lessons learned about the strategic alignment of TJTPs and smart specialisation strategies (S3) will be discussed and reflected with a diverse group of EU regions. An introductory presentation on the core prioritisation areas in selected JTF regions will be followed by presentations of regional representatives from four Member States and a moderated panel discussion.

The event marks the start of the working groups on chemicals, steel, cement and horizontal stakeholder strategy. Dr Jan-Philipp Kramer, head of the Prognos office in Brussels and EU expert, will lead the Working group on the Chemicals industry. The first meetings of the Working Group will be held on Thursday 18th November and will give the opportunities of the members to get to know each other and to discuss the priority themes for the transition towards climate neutrality. Dr Jan-Philipp Kramer and Aneta Sadlik will moderate the discussions on the key challenges and potential solutions for the chemicals sector.
