The digital transformation of the economy is leading to evolutionary and disruptive changes in the markets and is giving rise to new services, products and business models. However, if the opportunities offered by digital transformation are not recognised and utilised in time, it can become a threat to the competitiveness of established companies, which could ultimately lead to their being squeezed out of the market. Prognos has been commissioned by the Brandenburg Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy to update and focus the strategic framework for the digitalisation of the economy in Brandenburg.Challenge for the state of BrandenburgDigitalisation has long since arrived in the economy of Brandenburg and affects all areas. However, the fragmented structures of the Brandenburg economy require coordinated and collaborative efforts to create a conducive environment for the economy. These efforts should enable companies to embrace the change processes and derive the greatest possible benefit from digitalisation. To develop these conditions, all resources available in the state must be used.Roadmap for developing the digitalisation strategyTo develop a digitalisation strategy for the state of Brandenburg, the strategic framework for action and, in particular, the recommendations and measures for the digitalisation of the economy are evaluated;the current (technological) key topics and needs of companies – in alignment with the existing framework for action – are identified, systematised and prioritised in the context of digitalisation;if a need for change or adjustment is identified, specific recommendations and solutions are developed;strategic development goals and corresponding implementation strategies and measures are developed.
