With its pronounced industrial structure, the transformation toward a circular economy is of central importance for the economic location of Bavaria – and remains a major task. Despite significant gains in efficiency in recent years, Bavaria is yet to see a significant decline in resource consumption. The update of the “Figures, data, facts on resource efficiency in Bavaria” study, provides in-depth information on the topic.
Prognos will analyse the available data on resource consumption and raw materials as well as the economically relevant factors in Bavaria. The raw material information is then prepared and a potential analysis of efficiency measures is derived from the data. The aim is to create a catalogue of measures to enable the more efficient use of resources.
In the context of the analysis, available statistical data was evaluated and new indicators identified such as the circular material use rate or raw material-related greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, a series of interviews will be conducted and a literature analysis carried out.
The study results are intended to support actors in the Bavarian economy to develop measures that will permanently reduce the need for resources and thereby reduce strategic dependencies. In addition, the project will evaluate the existing offers of the Bavarian State Office for the Environment’s (LfU) Resource Efficiency Centre (REZ) and identify potential for further development of the available offer.
