Environmental
Economics Munich –
developments and potential

Client

State capital Munich

Year

ongoing

The assignment

The environmental economy is an important economic factor for the city of Munich and its surrounding area (planning region 14). Following up on an industry study from 2017, Prognos will conduct a current inventory on behalf of the state capital. New developments such as an expanded recycling economy or zero-waste technologies, are also to be integrated. The goal is to determine the potential of the environmental economy in Munich.

Our approach

The basis for updating the key figures for the environmental economy is our in-house, tried-and-tested Prognos envigos model. This database is used to examine economic key figures, innovation activities, and start-up dynamics in the industry. In addition, interviews with relevant institutions and companies will be conducted. The interim results will be discussed in a workshop with experts.

As a result, the study will provide an overview of the developments, potential, and priorities of the environmental economy in the Munich region.
