Further development of a sustainability agenda
Energy supply companies
2024
Back in 2021, in collaboration with our client, we developed a holistic, structured and focused sustainability agenda. In the last few years, pressure in the area of sustainability has continued to increase: National and European legislation as well as the financial market are making stronger than ever demands in terms of compliance with due diligence requirements as well as comprehensive sustainability reporting. The changing rules of play prompted our client to further develop and update their existing agenda.
We carried out a comprehensive stocktaking with our client to define which topics and measures were to be updated, dropped and (further) developed. As a basis for these decisions, we conducted trend and environmental analyses, internal and external stakeholder interviews and ran field-specific workshops. In addition to external regulatory requirements, rating agencies and the financial market we put particular focus on the sector’s future fields and potential business cases.
As was the case during the first process, we worked in close coordination with those responsible, with participating expert departments and the executive board. The strategic process as well as the adapted individual measures were prepared and the results presented in front of the group management board.
The result is the Sustainability Agenda 2.0, the basis for a responsibility conscious company in the context of its transformation process, uniting ecology, economy and social concerns. The improved governance, stakeholder and communication concepts will enable the successful implementation of the agenda within the group.
