The Rhineland-Palatinate Innovation Agency serves as a central point of contact within the Rhineland-Palatinate’s start-up and innovation ecosystem, helping to achieve the goals of the regional innovation strategy and sustainably strengthening the innovative power of the location.
In 2022, Prognos developed a concept for the founding of the Innovation Agency. Subsequently, Prognos has been supporting its entry into operative work.
Initially, the innovation agency’s focus was on gaining visibility among the actors and clients in Rhineland-Palatinate and finding partners. For this purpose, Prognos conducted a stakeholder analysis and developed a final ideal performance profile.
The Innovation Agency will cover the following areas of activity:
All services were generally met with demand among the stakeholders surveyed, but have different priorities. The greatest added value is expected to be seen in the areas of visibility creation, support through funding programmes and the increased networking of innovation players.
The Innovation Agency plays the role of mediator in the innovation ecosystem – it is here that the threads come together. For this to succeed, the Innovation Agency must have sufficient resources.
Finally, the analysis makes it clear that the partners provide a variety of impetus for cooperation – for example, through the mutual provision of specialist expertise.

The Harnessing Talent Platform supports selected regions within the EU that are particularly affected by demographic change and the brain drain. The technical support that Prognos is providing in some regions has now been launched with kick-off meetings.
Creatives in the countryside? As scientific partner in the model project KreativLand Baden-Württemberg, Prognos examined the status quo, the opportunities and the challenges facing creatives living and working outside of the urban centres and regions.
For over 15 years now Prognos has been bringing together the actors concerned by the expansion of the electricity grid and facilitating dialogue between them – from the Danish to the Swiss bor-der.
Through the Just Transition Platform (JTP), the EU supports the member states and regions in achieving their climate targets in a fair manner. Prognos provided the JTP with in-depth analyses and knowledge management.
Where does Germany stand on its path to digital administration? The Trendreport 2024 gives an update and recommendations for the digitalisation of the public administration system.
The electromobility of the future will interact with other intelligent systems. But for this to be pos-sible digital technologies will have to be standardised. The study shows in which areas standard-isation is particularly relevant and how standards are established.
Once again, Prognos has compiled the Innovation Index Germany on behalf of the Vodafone Institute for Society and Communications. The index quantifies the impact the expansion of Germany’s digital infrastructure has had on its innovation strength.
The 2024 Status Report gives a comprehensive picture of the whole Recycling Economy sector and its future challenges.
Environmental organisations have tasked Prognos with adapting selected assumptions from the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure transport forecasts to facilitate climate-friendly transport development.
Where in Germany is retirement particularly cheap and where has it become more expensive than average? Prognos examined this for the German Insurance Industry Association.
