8th Monitoring of the Energy Transition

Client

vbw - Vereinigung der Bayerischen Wirtschaft e. V.

Year

2020

For the eighth time in a row, Prognos reports on the course of the energy transition in Germany and Bavaria until now, on behalf of the vbw - Vereinigung der Bayerischen Wirtschaft e. V. The study focuses on factors of power generation and supply but in addition examines aspects of energy efficiency and environmental compatibility.

The monitoring report, now published, relates to the latest validated data for the year 2018. Progress in the energy transition is assessed considering four categories: reliability of supply, affordability, efficiency, and renewable energies as well as environmental compatibility. As an innovative feature compared to previous versions, new indicators are listed in the "Environmentally Friendly" category, which shed light on the numerous aspects of the climate compatibility of the entire energy system and include the demand sectors of private households, trade/commerce/services, industry and transport.
