Supporting the Baden-Württemberg sustainability strategy

Client

State Government of Baden-Württemberg

Year

ongoing

Since 2012, together with the Ökomedia communication agency, Prognos has been supporting the State Government of Baden-Württemberg with the conception, implementation, and further development of their sustainability strategy (“N! Strategy”).

The aim of the strategy is to firmly anchor sustainability in Baden-Württemberg’s politics, economics, and society and to make it the central decision-making criterion for governmental and administrative actions.

Comprehensive monitoring of the entire sustainability strategy

To this end, the Prognos team supports the sustainability strategy office with:

  • conceptual development of the strategy, for example, in the adaptation of the target and monitoring system
  • creation of short-notice, concise, short-term expert reports on current trends and challenges
  • support of high-ranking committees, in particular, the Advisory Board on Sustainable Development chaired by the ministerial president of Baden-Württemberg
  • overall management of the sustainability strategy

In addition, the experts support the implementation of the Baden-Württemberg Sustainability Economic Initiative (WIN) – an initiative within the sustainability strategy. The WIN Charter was created within this framework – a unique regional sustainability management system for small and medium-sized enterprises in Germany. A further WIN achievement, with the cooperation of Prognos is the Sustainable Production information platform.

Building on the success of this low-threshold sustainability management, the N! Sport Charter was developed jointly with the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment, the Baden-Württemberg State Sports Association, and other sports associations and clubs. The N!-Charter Sport supports sports clubs with the introduction and implementation of initial sustainability management.

Award for consultancy work within the framework of the N! Strategy

Prognos was awarded the WirtschaftsWoche Award for the “Best of Consulting” in 2018, for its consulting work as part of the Baden-Württemberg sustainability strategy. The Prognos team, led by Dr Axel Seidel, Jan Tiessen, Oliver Lühr, Jannis Lambert, and Katharina Wilkskamp, took first place in the category “Public Sector & Sustainability.”
